I played Martha Stewart this morning and baked a birthday cake for a friend's son.... It's a Milk Chocolate Layer Cake with Vanilla Custard filling, Swiss Meringue Buttercream Frosting, surrounded by KitKat's and topped with Smarties. I know I would have loved it for my 4-year old birthday, so hoping he will be happy too.
Can unfortunately not share the recipe as I didn't use one, but found the inspiration for the design by surfing around on various baking blogs and I did watch this video to learn how to make the Swiss Meringue Buttercream Frosting as it was the first time I ever made it. The heart is a cake on it's own that I placed in the middle and covered with the left-over frosting....just added a bit of green food coloring. A bit of a mess in the kitchen both during and afterwards - but worth the effort.

Wow! I have already seen pics of the design in other places, and was thinking about making it too. Now I am very inspired! You're a talented chef! Would love to be that 4-year-old who gets it!:)
